Departure
On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport and after customs clearance, you will be met and briefed by a Grand Adventures and Terra Expeditions (GATE) representative who will transfer you to your pre-booked hotel in Arusha (50 to 60 kilometres from Kilimanjaro International Airport). Arusha located in northern Tanzania at the base of Mount Meru, enjoys mild temperatures of around 15°C to 25°C and serves as the hub for the Northern Tanzania Safari circuit. At the hotel in Arusha, you will be given an overview of your trip and final preparations.
We will pick you up from the hotel after breakfast and drive to Tarangire National Park. Tarangire is about 120 Kilometres from Arusha, and we will aim to arrive there around 09.00 AM to start our game drive. Tarangire has a unique landscape decorated by massive baobab trees and the park boasts the largest elephant concentrations, with herds sometimes reaching up to hundreds. At Tarangire, you will also have a chance to see tree-climbing Lions, Zebra, Giraffes, and Warthog among many other animals, and is home to more than 500 bird species. Though less crowded, Tarangire offers an ideal destination for people who prefer a more quiet and secluded experience. The Tarangire game viewing will be split into two halves with lunch served in between. At the end of the day, we shall exit the park and drive to Karatu Area for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, we will head out to Manyara National Park. Manyara National Park is located near Maasai villages, offering visitors an opportunity to experience Maasai culture and traditions through cultural tours and village visits. The park provides a spectacular view of the Rift Valley that stretches over 6,000 kilometers (3,700 miles) from the Middle East to Mozambique. With alkaline shallow lake Manyara occupying most of its area, the park provides a paradise for over 400 bird species, with Flamingos, herons, pelicans, and storks swarming the lake. Lake Manyara National Park boasts one of the largest Elephant populations in Tanzania and supports a wide array of wildlife species due to its diversified range of habitats, ranging from groundwater forests, acacia woodlands, grassy plains, and swamps. Several hot springs are also found in this park and provide sources of water for wildlife, particularly during the dry season. After the game viewing, we will exit the park in the afternoon, and head out to Karatu for dinner and overnight.
After our early breakfast in the morning, we will start the journey to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area home to the world’s largest Caldera, the Ngorongoro Crater. The Area is one of the 7 UNESCO World Heritage Sites located in Tanzania and here you find the co-existence of wildlife and the pastoralist Maasai society.
We will descend 600 meters into the Ngorongoro Crater which has one of the densest concentrations of wildlife, with almost every wild African animal found in the crater including some of the endangered species such as the Black Rhino, Golden Cat, and Wild Hunting Dog. You will also have a chance to see Lake Magadi, an alkaline lake swarmed with flamingos at the base of the crater. At the end of the day we will ascend from the crater and drive back to Arusha and drop you off at your accommodation or the Kilimanjaro International Airport if you are flying out on the same day.
Our representative will drop you off at the airport ready for your home flight.
With a commitment to excellence and a deep love for exploration, we strive to redefine the way you travel.
